The DELTA GR275 6-inch Variable Speed Grinder with Tool-Less Change incorporates three different wheels for sharpening, grinding, and buffing. It features a 2.5 Amp induction-type motor for powerful performance, and has a variable speed of 2000 to 3450 RPM for a fine level of control depending on the materials you are working with. The white sharpening wheel is used for sharpening tools and chisels, and its tool rest has a drill bit rest milled into the surface so you'll get the correct angle on the tip at all times. A nut and tool-less wheel cover makes changing wheels quick and easy. The base is made of cast iron for durability and stability. An independently switched 40-watt work lamp with a flexible goose neck illuminates the work area while you're working. A full-size safety shield is clear and has thumb screws for easy adjustment.

A great product. I use it for sharpening knives with curved shanks (hoof knives), and the variable speed feature allows me to slow it down so that I don't tend to overheat the metal. The attached gooseneck light allows easy visualization of the fine details of the edges during sharpening.

This grinder meets my requirements.It was easy and quick to set up.All the parts were there.It is good for the price.

I may have to epoxy a flat plate to it. The drawbacks mentioned on the other reviews I found the same with my grinder. And like one other reviewer said, the left wheel (the one they call the right one) does wobble. It seems Delta's quality control has a touch of dyslexia. With common sense, it is not a big issue.The one negative I found was that the left tool rest (the one they show as the right tool rest on the diagram) has v-groove indention, I guess for drill bit sharpening, I wish they would have just given a flat surface rest instead, or in addition. It is minor however, and not so bad that the grinder wonders about the table.I bought this grinder for the variable control. It works well.

Re-drilling was not possible since the mounting plate is too small, and the grinder's mounting base has no room and is cast iron. That's what you gotta look out for and that's impossible to do online.

It has everyting you need to sharpen everything from dull steak knives, cheap pocket knives, lawn mower blades and gardening tools. Beyond those limitations you'll need to invest in a larger tool.

IMHO this is the best small grinder on the market that I could uncover during an intensive slurp thru the Internet maze. However, I wanted to mount it onto a free-standing grinder stand; unfortunately, the tool stand that I bought contained a mounting plate that was incompatible with the grinder's mounting holes.

This grinder will sit on your bench and not vibrate off at any speed. The grinder features a variable speed control and that capability puts it way out front of the others.

I bought a stand (HTC HGP-10)and its mounting-plate holes did not match up with the grinder's holes. Foiled again.
